The Accountant - Accounts Payable will perform accounting and clerical duties related to the efficient maintenance and processing of ccounts payable transactions.
The first 90 days period is 100% in office in Oakland, then a hybrid schedule is available, three days per week in office after successfully completing BACS' 90 day introductory period with satisfactory performance and achievement of all job related goals and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsabilities:
- Assemble, review and verify invoices and check requests.
- Flag and clarify any unusual or questionale invoice items or prices.
- Seek appropriate approval.
- Sort, code and match invoices.
- Set invoices up for payment.
- Enter and upload invoices into system.
- Track expenses and process expesnse reports.
- Track expenses and process petty cash.
- Prepare and perform check runs.
- Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
- Prepare analysis of accounts.
- Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
- Research and resolves invoices discrepancies and issues.
- Maintain vendor files.
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
- Produce monthly reports.
- Assist with month end closing.
- Provide supporting documentation for audits.
- Maintain accurate historical records.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational information.

- Proficiency in Microsoft applications of Word, Outlook and systems–based documentation platforms.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
- 1-3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to learn to work with different accounting software programs, particularly the MIP Accounting System.
Additional Requirements: Position requires a valid California driver’s license, personal vehicle, and proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage. DMV printout required.
